Building Permits

Before you begin most building or development projects you will need a building permit.

The Nova Scotia Building Code Act and Regulations adopt the 1995 National BUilding Code for use in all municipalities in Nova Scotia. The main purpose of the Building Code is to establish a uniform set of construction standards to help ensure your safety and that of your family through requirements for structural sufficiency, fir protection, and general building safety. The Code will also help minimize the use of substandard building materials and help improve the barrier free access to new and renovated public buildings.

You pick up an application to apply for a building permit at the Pictou County District Planning Commission office located at 266 Foord Street, Stellarton Nova Scotia.
